10 best songs of 2010

Here are AOL Radio's Top Pop Songs of 2010 so far -- pulled from listener ratings on our fresh 40 station. Be sure to check back frequently, as we will be updating this post every couple months with the best 2010 songs.

10 'Telephone'
Not to be confused with Beyonce's remix of 'Video Phone' -- which also includes Lady GaGa -- this top pop song is featured on GaGa's 'The Fame Monster' and was released as a single on Jan. 26. Although the song incorporates a harp, it's definitely club-ready -- and features a surprising rap sequence in the middle by Beyonce.Written by GaGa and Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, the song was originally intended for Britney.

09 'OMG'
Borrowing a commonly-used text acronym to describe Usher's feelings for a girl, this best song of 2010 features stadium cheering in the chorus and Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am, singing auto-tune vocals backed by his own hip-hop beats.

08 'Airplanes'
Atlanta's newest MC and producer recruits Paramore's tangerine bombshell Hayley Williams for this hip-hop track, featuring piano melodies and prominent clapping backbeats as he says, "I could use a dream or a genie or a wish / To go back to a place much simpler than this." The 2010 song is off B.o.B's debut album 'B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray,' which topped the Billboard 200 in its first week.

07 'Your Love Is My Drug'
Kesha
The bubblegum '80s-sounding track -- off her January debut 'Animal' -- opens with the delusional line: "Maybe I need some rehab / Or maybe just need some sleep / I've got a sick obsession, I'm seeing it in my dreams." With a modern Cyndi Lauper-inspired chorus, the song has a playful take on a teen love obsession, with auto-tuned vocals and casual chatty ad-libs.

06 'Love the Way You Lie'
The blockbuster album 'Recovery' has been breaking records on the Billboard charts, as well as its second single, 'Love the Way You Lie.' The mid-tempo rap track, with melodic piano chords and a soaring chorus, has R&B diva Rihanna joining Eminem to tell the story of an abusive couple who can't stay apart, despite bringing out the worst in each other. "It's something that, you know, [Eminem and I have] both experienced ... On different sides, different ends of the table," Rihanna, recently told Access Hollywood.

05 'Need You Now (2010 Mix)'
This top song is about the longing of late-night companionship. A beautiful ballad for a booty-call, the song reached No. 1 on the Hot Country charts in November, eventually transitioning over to pop radio. The 2010 pop mix version has electric guitar replacing the country guitar twang in the chorus and the bridge. Subtle, but it does the trick.

04 'Break Your Heart'
This R&B song -- with auto-tune vocals and a synth back-beat -- is the first single from Taio Cruz's September-released album 'Rokstarr.' Originally penned for UK singer Cheryl Cole, this No. 1 UK hit has been remixed in 2010 for the US version that features rap sequences by Ludacris.

03 'Nothin' on You'
'Nothin' on You' is the very first single by B.o.B. Featuring Bruno Mars (who sings the catchy chorus about all the beautiful women uncomparable to "the one"), this best song of 2010 is also included on B.o.B.'s debut studio album, 'The Adventures of Bobby Ray.'

02 'Rude Boy'
'Rude Boy' is the third single (second international single) from her fourth studio effort 'Rated R.' Driven by steel drums, the ska and dancehall track's title references Jamaican slang -- specifically males who are continually in trouble. After all, who doesn't love a bad boy?

01 'California Gurls'
Featuring hip-hop star Snoop Dogg,
the song includes Prince-sounding '80s guitar beats and summer-ready lyrics: "California girls / We're unforgettable / Daisy dukes, bikinis on top / Sun kissed skin, so hot, will melt your popsicle." Is it the California version of Jay-Z and Alicia Keys' 'Empire State of Mind'? We'll let the fans determine that.

2010 Best Songs -- The Runner-Ups

These songs just missed our 10 Best Songs of 2010 list:
Fergie starts this number singing, "Imma be shakin' my hips / You gon' be lickin' your lips," over a mid-tempo urban beat, until halfway through the song it switches over to a full-on funk house dance track. The music video is a mashed up medley of 'Imma Be' and 'Rock That Body,' clocking in at 10:21.

'Not Afraid'
The lead single off Eminem's smashing album, 'Recovery,' 'Not Afraid' perfectly sums up the rapper's rehabilitation from drug addiction. Produced by Boi-1da, it shows an optimistic Eminem, who chooses to face his fears: "I'm not afraid to take a stand / everybody, come take my hand / We'll walk this road together, through the storm / Whatever weather... you're not alone / Holler if you feel that you been down the same road."

'Young Forever'
This Jan. 26-released single is the fifth song featured off last year's studio album 'The Blueprint 3.' Produced by Kanye West, this best song of 2010 features British R&B/pop singer Mr. Hudson singing splices of Alphaville's 1984 hit 'Forever Young' -- while Jay-Z raps original lyrics. You may remember the 1984 version from the prom scene of the cult classic 'Napoleon Dynamite.'

'Cooler Than Me'
The Singer, songwriter, producer, and recent Duke University graduate came into the limelight with his debut album, June 2010's '31 Minutes to Takeoff.' The lead single, 'Cooler Than Me' was produced by Gigamesh, and originally appeared on Posner's mixtape, 'A Matter of Time,' which came out last early last year.

'Alejandro'
With Europop influences and Madonna 'La Isla Bonita' similarities, the third single off 'The Fame Monster' has Gaga turning away true love: "You know that I love you boy / Hot like Mexico, rejoice / At this point I gotta choose, nothing to loose." According to Gaga, the song's controversial video is a "celebration and an admiration of gay love -- it confesses my envy of the courage and bravery they require to be together."

Biography
Charismatic and engaging in his teen roles of the early 1980s, the athletic and boyishly handsome Cruise soon graduated to adult superstar status. By the mid-90s, he was indisputably the most powerful movie star of his generation. After a peripatetic childhood, Cruise turned to acting in high school after a knee injury derailed his wrestling ambitions. Energized by landing the role of Nathan Detroit in his high school production of "Guys and Dolls", he dropped out in his senior year to pursue an acting career. By 1981, Cruise was in Los Angeles where he met Paula Wagner, then an agent at Creative Artists Agency, who would subsequently guide his film career and later join him as his producing partner. After his film debut in "Endless Love", he gained attention in a showy supporting role as an increasingly lunatic cadet in "Taps" (both 1981). Cruise's career prospects brightened when he persuaded Francis Ford Coppola to cast him in a small role as a tough guy in "The Outsiders" (1983), though he failed to stand out amid a talented ensemble of teen heartthrobs that included Matt Dillon, Patrick Swayze and Rob Lowe. It took his turn as an anxious, affluent, suburban teen poised precariously on the brink of young adulthood in "Risky Business" (also 1983), Cruise created a resonant protagonist for young Reagan-era audiences, even putting on extra pounds to emphasize the softness and vulnerability of the character as he flirts with illicit capitalism. In a star-making scene, the actor, clad in an Oxford shirt, Jockey briefs, and cool shades, plays air guitar and dances wildly to Bob Seger's "Old Time Rock'n'Roll." This celebrated sequence provided a key to the actor's subsequent mega-success: he was an attractive but fairly regular guy to whom audiences could easily relate. Intriguingly, the part also showcased Cruise's magnetic sexual appeal much more effectively than any of his subsequent screen roles.
Cruise performed well in a more naturalistic mode in "All the Right Moves" (1983), a sober high school football drama then grew his hair long and made the wrong move with the colossal fantasy flop, "Legend" (1985). He solidified his star status with one of the signature hits of the decade, "Top Gun" (1986). Defiantly politically incorrect, with flying sequences edited to the rhythms of pop tunes, the film functioned as both Navy recruiting ad and glossy romantic adventure. No longer the engaging boy-next-door, Cruise's Maverick was a cocky go-getter armed with a killer smile, a role whose variants he would essay in several subsequent, less ambitious motion pictures (e.g. "Cocktail" 1988, "Days of Thunder" 1990). Not content to be a matinee idol, Cruise began stretching his talents in the mid-80s--often paired with older, more established male stars of previous eras--with impressive results. He enriched his characterization of the talented but arrogant young man opposite Paul Newman in "The Color of Money" (1986) and consolidated his serious dramatic credentials with "Rain Man" (1988), where he more than held his own opposite overbearing Oscar-winner Dustin Hoffman. Oliver Stone's "Born on the Fourth of July" (1989) earned him a Best Actor Oscar nomination for his hard-hitting portrayal of anti-war activist Ron Kovic.
Cruise stumbled a bit with the critically and commercially disappointing "Far and Away" (1992), a goofy period romance co-starring his wife Nicole Kidman. He recovered with the highly popular court-martial drama, "A Few Good Men" (1992), wherein he successfully confronted an iconic Jack Nicholson. Cruise again played a lawyer in "The Firm" (1993) with comparably successful results at the box office.
Never content to rest on his laurels, Cruise raised eyebrows--and more than a few hackles--by accepting the central role of the vampire Lestat in "Interview With the Vampire" (1994). Many balked at the idea of the All-American go-getter playing the decadent, ambisexual European predator of Anne Rice's novel. (Rice initially was the harshest critic). Sporting blond locks and blue contact lenses, Cruise eventually won Rice's approval and generally positive notices for his showy turn. He was all but omnipresent in the media as he aggressively promoted his feature producing debut, the post-Cold War espionage movie, "Mission: Impossible" (1996). Based on the fondly remembered 60s TV show, the project had languished in various development hells before Cruise got involved. Rumors abounded about Cruise clashing with director Brian De Palma over budgetary and story matters but despite international location shooting, high-tech stunts, computer-generated visual effects and last-minute re-writes by a stellar assortment of scripters, "Mission: Impossible" came in on time and under budget. The reviews were mixed--some treated it as an extravagant but cold vanity production with a confused storyline but most admired the cinematic technique. Cruise fared better in one of his best roles as a sports agent who chucks it all and finds love in the bittersweet "Jerry Maguire" (also 1996). He and Kidman accepted the leading roles in legendary writer-director Stanley Kubrick's long-awaited return to feature filmmaking, "Eyes Wide Shut" (1999), a collaboration that marked another milestone in the actor's quest to be taken seriously as an artist and not just another pretty face--with major commercial clout.

Sylvester Stallone

Birth Name: Sylvester Enzio Stallone
Birthdate: July 6, 1946
Birthplace: New York, NY
Occupations: Actor, Director, Writer, Producer
Quote: "See, lately--I don't know why--action movies have become like the movie business's equivalent of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Just as Quasimodo was the ugly duckling in literature, action films have become the sore spot for critics. In the old days, people talked about biblical scenarios of action films. The bible is action-packed. The Koran is action-packed. Even Buddha had a few moments of suspense in his life. Yet, when we make action movies now, we're considering moneymaking machines with no esoteric worth, and that's not true at all. There's a lot of artistry that goes into what we do. I tend to think of action movies as exuberant morality plays in which good triumphs over evil." --Interview magazine, July 1995

Biography
This stoic Italian-American actor with an awesomely sculpted physique gained overnight stardom as the writer and star of the Oscar-winning sleeper of 1976, "Rocky". Stallone's early acting credits include a part in the nude play "Score" and in a semi-pornographic film (since retitled "The Italian Stallion" 1971), and a role as one of the thugs who harasses Woody Allen on the subway in "Bananas" (1971). Stallone subsequently landed parts in other legitimate feature films, but his career only began flying high when he took matters into his own hands and wrote "Rocky". Though he sold the screenplay for a relatively small sum, Stallone was compensated in the form of percentage points and, more significantly, in trading a larger fee for his script for being cast in the title role. The film was nominated for 10 Oscars (and won Best Picture) and earned nearly $120 million at the boxoffice. He made his directing debut with the flawed, but watchable, "Paradise Alley" (1978), and has written a number of his subsequent vehicles, on occasion even singing a song for the soundtracks. With the possible exception of "Night Hawks" (1981), which he neither wrote, produced nor directed, Stallone has not been involved with a film as rich and refreshing as his breakthrough. To date, he has reprised the role of Rocky in four sequels. For years Stallone's only other major box-office successes have been the sequels to "First Blood" (1982) where he premiered the role of gung-ho Vietnam War hero John Rambo. His "Rambo" films, like the "Rocky" franchise, steadily declined in quality, while reflecting, contributing to and cashing in on the increasingly conservative political and social climate of the 1980s. Stallone unsuccessfully attempted to break into comedy with the John Landis-directed "Oscar" (1991). As mobster Angelo 'Snaps' Provolone, he gets caught up in a case of mistaken identity. The film demonstrated that the deadpan flair Stallone displayed with one-liners in actioners like "Tango and Cash" (1989) and "Cobra" (1986) did not readily translate to full-blown comedy. Hoping to create a successful genre hybrid in the manner of his Planet Hollywood business partners Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis, he again tried lighter fare with the action-comedy "Stop! or My Mom Will Shoot" (1992), but this effort met a cool reception at the box office. Stallone made a profitable return to action fare with two 1993 hits: the mountain-climbing adventure "Cliffhanger", which he co-wrote, and the satirical futuristic fightfest "Demolition Man". Paired with Sharon Stone, he continued on the hit parade with "The Specialist" (1994), a pyrotechnical thriller that did moderate business stateside but went over like gangbusters overseas. His $75 million sci-fi comic-book movie "Judge Dredd" (1995), however, crashed and burned at the domestic box office as did "Assassins" (also 1995), which teamed him with Antonio Banderas. He followed up with the actioner "Daylight" (1996), for which he earned a reported $17.5 million as an emergency worker who must rescue people trapped in NYC's Holland Tunnel. Stallone surprised many by forgoing his usual salary and signing to co-star with Robert De Niro and an all-star cast in James Mangold's modestly budgeted ($15 million) independent film "Cop Land" (1997). In the latter, Stallone played a hearing-impaired New Jersey lawman who must investigate possible police corruption. Stallone was formerly married to actress Brigitte Nielsen (1985-87). His brother Frank Stallone is a singer-songwriter-actor who has worked on and/or appeared in a number of his brother's films, and was well cast as the belligerent bartender in "Barfly" (1986).

Biography
This tall, slender, boyishly handsome young actor proved engaging in TV family sitcoms (e.g., "Growing Pains") and endured a cheapie horror sequel ("Critters 3" 1991) before triumphing as Tobias Wolff in "This Boy's Life" (1993), a 1950s coming-of-age with an explosive domestic setting. While earning the lion's share of praise and virtually stealing the picture from established co-stars Robert De Niro and Ellen Barkin, DiCaprio was merely warming up. Later that year, he downplayed his handsomeness and undertook the role of the mentally challenged but cheerful younger brother of Johnny Depp's title character in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape". At age 19, he scored strong reviews and snagged a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination.
DiCaprio added another exceedingly stylish genre film to his resume with a supporting role opposite Sharon Stone in the delirious meta-Western "The Quick and the Dead" (1995). He brought verve and cynicism to his portrayal of the Kid, a cocksure young gunslinger who may be the son of villain Gene Hackman. He veered back to the margins to star in the long-awaited (and profoundly disappointing) adaptation of "The Basketball Diaries" (also 1995), Jim Carroll's gritty memoirs of a youth that incorporated good grades, local basketball stardom and heroin addiction. DiCaprio won praise for his highly emotional performance but the film was deemed aimless, shallow and routine.
Courting the art-house crowd, the actor portrayed French poet and arrogant, self-styled "genius" Arthur Rimbaud in "Total Eclipse" (1995), a psychological drama that traced the complex and exceedingly unpleasant homosexual relationship between Rimbaud and his older mentor, Paul Verlaine, while failing to deal with their art. A critical and commercial flop, the film marked DiCaprio's first unqualified disaster but later found an audience in its video release (no doubt in part because of its nude scenes). Further stretching his talents, DiCaprio undertook the role of Romeo to Claire Danes' Juliet in the bizarre, modern-dress take of "William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet" (1995). The young actor once again proved his dramatic mettle amidst heavyweights like Meryl Streep and Diane Keaton in "Marvin's Room" (also 1995) before landing the role of the plucky artist who wins a last-minute passage on "Titanic" (1997). In James Cameron's Oscar-winning blockbuster, DiCaprio and co-star Kate Winslet anchored the film, turning what many felt was a poorly-written love story and making it come alive for audiences around the world. Following on the heels of his Romeo, this performance solidified the young actor's stature as a heartthrob with his slyly wicked dual turn in "The Man in the Iron Mask" (1998) further adding to his reputation.

Brad Pitt

Date of Birth: December 18, 1963
Hometown: Shawnee, OK
Real Name: William Bradley Pitt
Biography
Brad Pitt has emerged as one of the most prominent actors in the world, starring in films such as Fight Club, Legends of the Fall, Seven, and Twelve Monkeys. He most recently starred as Achilles in Troy, for director Wolfgang Petersen. To date, the film has earned nearly $350 million worldwide. Prior to rejoining the Ocean's Twelve cast, he wrapped production on Mr. & Mrs. Smith, starring opposite Angelina Jolie for director Doug Liman.

Pitt's role as the seductive hitchhiker in Ridley Scott's controversial Thelma & Louise first brought him national attention. He then went on to star as the psychopathic serial killer in Kalifornia, the charismatic-but-doomed Paul Maclean in Robert Redford's A River Runs Through It and the bloodsucking Louis in Neil Jordan's Interview with the Vampire.

Pitt has been nominated twice for a Golden Globe Award – for his work as Tristan, the passionate, untamable brother in Legends of the Fall, and for his co-starring role in Terry Gilliam's Twelve Monkeys. Pitt won the award for the latter performance.

His recent starring roles include Spy Game, in which he starred opposite Robert Redford, directed by Tony Scott. He also co-starred in The Mexican with Julia Roberts and James Gandolfini for director Gore Verbinski and in Guy Ritchie's Snatch. Pitt has also appeared in cameo roles in Soderbergh's Full Frontal and Clooney's Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. He lent his voice as Sinbad in the animated motion picture Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas.

Born in Shawnee, Oklahoma and raised in Springfield, Missouri, Pitt attended the University of Missouri at Columbia, where he majored in journalism with a focus on advertising. Right before graduation, he moved to Los Angeles to study advertising and graphic design, but instead began to pursue an acting career, studying with Roy London. Soon thereafter, he began securing roles in various television projects, including the Fox series Glory Days, HBO's The Image and the critically acclaimed movie of the week, Too Young to Die.

On film, Pitt has also starred in Johnny Suede, which won the 1992 Golden Leopard Award for Best Picture at the Locarno Film Festival, Ralph Bakski's Cool World, Tony Scott's True Romance, Sleepers, The Devil's Own, Jean Jacques Annaud's Seven Years in Tibet, Martin Brest's Meet Joe Black and Fight Club, which reunited him with director David Fincher.

Pitt, along with his wife Jennifer Aniston and friend Brad Grey, own Plan B Productions.

Plot Summary for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1

Voldemort's power is growing stronger. He now has control over the Ministry of Magic and Hogwarts. Harry, Ron, and Hermione decide to finish Dumbledore's work and find the rest of the Horcruxes to defeat the Dark Lord. But little hope remains for the Trio, and the rest of the Wizarding World, so everything they do must go as planned.

Movie that I'm awating to Watch

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1

This is the first of the two last movies for the entire series, corresponding to the first half of book 7. In this one, Harry, Ron, and Hermione go on the trek that Dumbledore sent them on to find and destroy all of the lost Horcruxes, but it won't be easy.

Harry, Ron, and Hermione are fugitives from the law when the Death Eaters have taken over the Ministry of Magic and there is a 10,000 galleon price for anyone who turns in Harry to the Death Eaters so Voldemort can kill him. The Dark Lord told all Death Eaters not to kill Harry because he wants Harry for himself.

Harry doesn't know what the horcruxes look like, where they are, and he doesn't have any means of destroying them. While Harry is on this quest, he keeps having little glimpses into Voldemorts mind and he sees that The Dark Lord is also on a quest, but Voldemort's quest is to find a wand that Harry has never heard of, and when Harry investigates this a bit, his leads take him to a mysterious story about "The Deathly Hallows". So, while Harry is looking for the Horcruxes and learning more about "The Deathly Hallows", he finds himself in more danger that he's ever been in before. And when danger calls, people die... and in the last thriller of the Harry Potter series, fight breaks out and a lot of people die, and you will be in tears during every minute of this movie only to be in even more tears when it's over.
